Digha is a seaside resort city in the state of West Bengal, India. It lies in East Midnapore district and at the northern end of the Bay of Bengal. Tajpur is located in Purba Medinipur, West Bengal, India on the shore of Bay of Bengal (near Digha). Tajpur is set between Mandarmani and Shankarpur. Tajpur is 170 km from the state capital Kolkata.Tajpur has also around 1400 acres of land dedicated to Pisciculture. There are a number of bheris or fish-ponds in the area. As a tourist attraction, it is relatively new as there are fewer hotels compared to Digha and Mandarmani. Mandarmani is a recently developed beach town near the popular tourist destination Digha. Mandarmani have a memorable beach which is able to driveby motor, probably the longest (13 km) beach road in India of which one may be justly proud. It is an ideal place to relax, far away from Kolkata.Tajpur is the latest tourist spot near Mandarmuni.Its pristine virgin beach sea beach fringed with a dense forest of tamarisk trees and infested with infinite number of red crabs which play hide and seek in the sand.   • Safety at Sea. The sea becomes rough to very rough during high tide, especially during new and full moon. It is not safe to swim during high tide. There is a sea wall, which protects Old Digha from erosion, it is unsafe to cross the wall during high tide. Most of Digha has No Swim signs.
